Dedicated Hosting Explanation

When we talk about hosting web servers, there are three basic types - hosting servers, VPS (private virtual web servers) and dedicated servers. Shared hosting web servers accommodate lots of customers and therefore the resources per user account are limited, VPS give you more configuration freedom, but also affect other VPSs on the hardware node if utilized unwisely, and dedicated servers give you the liberty to do everything you want without meddling with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are normally much more expensive than shared hosting web servers or VPS web servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The reply is pretty simple. If your firm has a heavy resource-swallowing site, or just has very explicit server setup requirements, the most intelligent choice is a dedicated servers. For someone who is willing to invest in security and stability, the greater price is not an issue. You receive full root-level access and can use 100% of the web server's system resources without anyone else availing of these system resources and meddling with your online portals.

Hardware specifications

The majority of hosting suppliers, incl. us at Server Cloud Hosting, offer different hardware architectures you can select from depending on your necessities. The hardware architectures offer different types of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM and server hard drive sizes and different bandwidth quotas. You can select a hosting CP, which is a handy tool if you wish to use the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes only and prefer not to use SSH for all the changes you will be making. We offer 3 sorts of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The web hosting Control Panel of your preference

If you are a self-confident Linux user (our hosting servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated servers through an SSH client exclusively. That, however, could be awkward, especially if you want to give complete server root access to someone else who has less technical expertise than yourself. That is why having Control Panel software installed is a bright idea. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel tool that we offer does not offer root privileges and is mostly suitable for somebody who has numerous online portals that require lots of system resources, but wishes to manage the online portals, databases and mailbox aliases via a user-friendly Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant root privileges and include three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting accounts rather than using the dedicated servers only for yourself, you should pick one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup procedures

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your server, such as a non-responsive Apache or a downtime, it is desirable to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at Server Cloud Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers as well. Backups are also an extra option - the hosting supplier offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could select a kind of RAID that would allow you to have the very same data on 2 server hard drives as a protective measure in the event of a hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given complete server root access deletes something by accident.
